New details have emerged regarding athlete Agnes Tirop, who was found dead by police officers in her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County on Wednesday, October 13.
Speaking to journalists, Keiyo South OCPD Tim Makori disclosed that parents of both Tirop and her husband went to the Iten Police Station on Wednesday morning.

During their interaction with the police, Tirop husband's parents stated that he had contacted them while crying and asking for forgiveness. He, however, had not told them what he had done wrong.
"Alarmed by the statements, police officers resulted to visiting their house. When they got inside, they found Tirop on the bed with blood all over. She had been stabbed on her neck," Makori stated.
Residents in the area told journalists that the 25-year-old and her husband had been having domestic wrangles for a while.
They suspected that Tirop had gone to take her belongings from the husband's house when the unfortunate turn of events took place.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased's husband could have been involved in her death.
"We are looking for him and are hoping that he can tell us what really transpired," he stated.
The star athlete had just become the world record holder last month after winning the 10km road race. She clocked 30:01 during the Adizero Road to Records event in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
At the age of 19 years, Tirop become the youngest winner of the World Cross since Zola Budd in 1985 and the second youngest in World Cross Country Athletics history.Agnes Tirop celebrates winning bronze in the Women's 10,000m final at the World Athletics Championships in Doha in 2019Sky Sportsdead armed death suspect armed stabbed
