The mother of a boy who was reportedly lynched after sneaking into a girl's school has finally opened up about the incident and the son's behavior.

The 17-year-old boy was reported to have led five other male students from Gathiruini Boys High School into the neighbouring Komothai Girls Secondary School in Kiambu County on Thursday, October 21.

The mother opening about the tragic incident described her son as hardworking, disciplined, and jovial.

While still yet to come to terms with her son's demise, she refused to accept reports that he was lynched after making her way into the girl's school.

She gave her own account stating her son might have died of trauma.

"I have seen the body of my son, and I am so saddened. The injuries on his body do not show any [signs of] beatings, but the ones on his head shows he died from trauma,” the mother told the Standard.

She even accused the school of concealing the real cause of death. She suggested that her son might have jumped from the fourth floor sustaining the injuries.

The form four students, according to the police report, forced their way into the girls' school before the frightened girls raised the alarm.

A security guard reported the incident at Kibichoi Police Station in Githunguri Sub County.

“They had escaped from their school and trespassed into ours. Some people sighted them at Phoebe House - the dormitory for girls,” a security guard, who reported the incident at the police station, recalled.

The girls screamed attracting the attention of the security guards, the teacher on duty, as well as the headteacher.  After the alarm was raised, the boys scampered for safety. Others managed to escape unidentified.

The irate mob descended on the form four boy who was left behind lynching him.

“The teenager was beaten by the students and staff and sustained physical injuries on the head and forehead."

“He was rushed to Kigumo Level IV Hospital in an unconscious state but died while receiving treatment,” the police report read in part.

His body was transferred to Kigumo mortuary for further forensic examinations to establish the cause of death.
