  • Soldiers from the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) have been feted for their exemplary service in restoring peace in the neighboring country of Somalia.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 27, KDF announced that the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) had feted the Kenyan troops for their courage during the peacekeeping mission at an award ceremony held on October 26.

The Kenyan troops who were feted were the tenth consignment of soldiers that the country sent to Somalia since 2010. This was after former President Mwai Kibaki announced that the country would send troops to the country to neutralize threats paused by the Al Shabaab militia group.
