Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP), has revealed why President Uhuru Kenyatta's plan to hand-pick his successor will fail.

In a post made on his social media platform on Saturday, October 30, the MP  affirmed his stand on the president's involvement in State House succession politics by referring to a video of him addressing the president with the caption, 'we soldier on.'

In the video, the lawmaker  warns the Head of State on imposing Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, on the people, stating that it would not work.

"Some things can never be, for example, trying to make Raila president, Impossible work. You are better off crushing stones in a quarry," Kuria stated.

He further urged President Kenyatta to allow Kenyans to decide their next leader with coercion. Kuria stated that the much the president could offer the country as he exits his office was his blessings as Kenyans go the ballot next year to elect new leaders.

In a veiled swipe at Kenyatta, Kuria also asked him to emulate his predecessor, Retired President Mwai Kibaki, stating that the former was least concerned about who would success him.

"When someone leaves Mombasa for Nairobi aboard a plane, when he or she gets to Nairobi, they get their luggage and go home, they do not start asking where next the plain would be going," he stated.

Kuria also indicated that he would still remain firm on the idea of leaders from the Mount Kenya region to form their own political party. He stated that the Kikuyu community should not be called selfish for wanting to form a political alliance of their own.

"We have already shown a big gesture by supporting someone who is not from out tribe for the top seat for the first time in 30 years. So when we organise ourselves, let no one call us tribal," he stated.

The lawmaker has been linked to Narc Kenya Party Leader, Martha Karua, and The Service Party (TSP) leader, Mwangi Kiunjuri, who in one voice have opined that Mount Kenya should form its own political alliance.

Kiunjuri and Kuria, who claimed to back Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid, have openly defied the DP, who called for all parties to dissolve into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

A recent poll conducted by Kuria's party, Chama Cha Kazi, predicted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader would trounce the DP if the August 9, 2022 was down to a two-horse race. However, in the case of a four-horse race, Ruto would win the presidential election.
