Bunge la Mwananchi speaker and ODM politician Robert Kiberenge on Tuesday, October 11, announced he was selling one of his kidney's with the end goal of saving his wife, Jackline Karegi Kevogo.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kiberenge claimed that his wife's high blood pressure had worsened when she received a jab, causing her kidney-related problems.
The reaction is said to have caused her kidney-related problems that would see her visit the hospital for dialysis on a weekly basis.
"At the time she took the jab, she was not taking the high blood pressure medication. So immediately she received the jab, she started developing some abdominal pains.
"She was admitted at Guru Nanak where she was diagnosed with kidney problems," Kiberenge stated.
In their diagnosis, doctors stated Karegi should not have taken the jab before taking her medication.
Kiberenge, who intimated he had exhausted all the funds, stated he aimed at raising a total of Ksh200,000 for treatment.
"She is supposed to attend dialysis sessions on a weekly. Each session is Ksh7,000. The doctors do not know when she will finish the treatment.
"She is in pain, doesn't eat and she has developed wounds in her mouth."
In recent years, some Kenyans have resorted to selling their kidneys due to financial constraints.
In August, a KCPE student announced she would be selling her kidney in a bid to raise school fees to join Turkana Girls High School.
She was, however, lucky as well wishers catered for her school fees.
