Hundreds of the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) supporters stormed into Nyamira county offices on Thursday, November 4, demanding that deputy president William Ruto’s donation be released.

The group of vegetable vendors commonly known as mama mbogas, accused the area member of Parliament, Vincent Kemosi of pocketing their money.

DP Ruto, who had taken his bottom-up gospel to Nyamira county on Tuesday, November 2, gave the lawmaker Ksh.1 million to give to the small-scale traders of West Mugirango.

The locals however claimed that 72 hours later, the MP had not given them a single cent from the share, and they wanted it released immediately.

They UDA supporters refused to leave the offices, and vowed to pitch camp at the premises, until the MP releases their money.

The crowd was milling around the offices, but did not get any feedback from the officials who were present.

The Nyamira traders are now demanding that should the MP fail to release the money, the deputy president should intervene.

This is not the first time that donations by the Deputy President are are causing drama, as he traverses the country, ahead of 2022 polls.

At first, it happened at the coast, in Mombasa, at the Kongowea market, where they claimed that Ksh1.3 million had been allegedly embezzled and deposited into private accounts.

A few days later, after the deputy president pitched tent at Kakamega, the ward representatives together with other UDA supporters claimed that Bonny Khalwale, the former Kakamega senator had pocketed their money.

So far, all the accused politicians have claimed that they have not embezzled the funds.
