Super Metro Sacco has issued a clarification regarding the free matatu rides for its passengers on various routes.
The chairman of the Matatu Sacco, Nelson Mwangi, had previously announced that they would be offering free rides beginning this week as a way of appreciating their customers.
Through a statement posted on their social media pages on Tuesday, November 8, the Matatu Sacco affirmed that the free rides were only being offered during the morning peak hours.
Further, the rides were not for the entire fleet and routes but for a selected few.
"We have received multiple texts via inbox on today's free ride list. As we had stated on our previous post which was a video as our Chairman Nelson Mwangi was giving out the rides, this time we did it differently."
"We gave the free rides during the morning rush hour. Kindly note that our free rides were not for all our fleet but some. We thank you all for your unconditional support and have a blessed night ahead of you all. Stay safe," read the statement.
Regarded as a staple in the matatu industry, Super Metro has been hailed by many of its users as one of the most reliable transporters.
The Sacco's vehicles currently ply the Kikuyu Route 105, Thika Road, Juja 236 to Makongeni 237, and the Ngong to Nairobi CBD Route 111.
Recently, they had expanded its fleet adding 50 new buses as part of its fleet.
"To our staff members, drivers, and conductors, it is our humble prayer that God guides you in all you do as you interact with our esteemed clients serving them with dignity and respect. We thank you and may God bless the work of your hands," the Sacco's management stated.
This is the second time in two months that the Sacco has announced free rides for its customers. During Customer Service Week, Super Metro announced free rides from Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) to the outskirts of Juja and Kikuyu. The free rides would begin from 4pm.
"Thank you for your unconditional support. We are more than grateful for having the opportunity to serve you our loyal clients each day. We value you all," read the statement.
