Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has cautioned the Jubilee party against ousting Deputy President William Ruto as deputy party leader during the upcoming National Delegates Convention.

In a TV interview on Wednesday, November 10, the former CS noted that kicking out Ruto could send the country into a constitutional crisis as his status as the DP would be in jeopardy.

The Service Party (TSP) leader however pointed out that Ruto could use other avenues to retain his position such as the political parties tribunal.

Giving examples of politicians who had faced the ruling party's purge in the recent past such as former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, former Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang'ata, he noted that Ruto should be ready for any outcome.

"In this country a decision can be made at 5 o'clock in the evening and at 12 midnight the gazette is already out and then the Speaker of the Assembly at 9 o'clock effects it. So these are interesting times," stated Kiunjuri who fell out with President Kenyatta.

The TSP leader also detailed of his strained relationship with the Head of State noting that the turmoil began after he was appointed as Agriculture CS which ultimately led to his removal.

"It is two years down the line and many people know that i am not antagonistic. I served in government with the President with whom I respect, the day I was fired and I don't know if I was fired, I think my name did not appear on the list and when Uhuru was asked whether my name was not on the list, he stated that they should disregard it."

The TSP party leader pointed out that the Mt Kenya region has the swing vote for the upcoming elections, hence all presidential aspirants ought to meet the irreducible minimums stipulated by the region.

In a past interview, he noted that the aspirants should assure the region of an equal share of national resources and representation in parliament in relation to the region's numbers.

"If you truly want to take care of Mt Kenya voters you must assure us that you will change the constitution in the first 100 days in office so that we can have that equality."

"If you want our votes, you must assure us that there will be equality of votes. One man, one vote, one shilling," he noted.
