Police have arrested two suspects who had beaten security to find their way out from a highly guarded police station.
The two are said to have hatched the plan to escape from custody, a plan they executed on Thursday, November 11, prompting police to launch a manhunt that lasted for almost a week.
The duo, Elvis Odhiambo and Mohammed Aden Hussein, are facing robbery with violence charges and escaped from Kapsoya Police Station that is based in Eldoret.
The duo was nabbed after a joint team of police officers drawn from Uasin Gishu and Kisumu counties was deployed to hunt down the suspects on the loose.
They were arrested at the Manyatta area in Kisumu, by a team of officers from Kondele and Kapsoya police stations. The two suspects are being held at Kondele Police station pending repatriation to Kapsoya.
"Mohammed Aden Hussein 18 years and Elvis Odhiambo 17 years were facing robbery with violence charges at Eldoret Law Courts," the report read in part
"The two suspects are held at Kondele Police station pending collection to Kapsoya."
This comes as police intensified search for other three terror convicts who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prisons on Monday night, November 15.
Preliminary reports had revealed that the three drilled a hole through the wall before escaping .Detectives also reported that the three who have been described as dangerous, used a razor blade to cut their blankets which they used to scale the walls at Kamiti prisons.
The detectives led by Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti are trying to establish how the terror convicts beat three layers of security to escape from a highly guarded prison.
Three fugitives - Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf, Musharaf Abdalla Akhulunga alias Zarkawi, and Mohamed Ali Abikar - who had been arrested over terrorist activities.
“We will not only go the direction investigations will point us, but we will act resolutely to ensure this kind of recklessness does not happen again because it exposes our people. Definitely, there is a certain level of irresponsibility we have to deal with in this particular case,” interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i stated in a statement released on Tuesday, November 16.
Three prison wardens have since been arrested regarding the incident.
