The National Police Service (NPS) received a new batch of 101 vehicles under the Government of Kenya lease program on Wednesday, November 17.

The vehicles were given by CMS Motors Group Limited.

The vehicles were received on behalf of the Inspector General (IG)of Police by Julius Sunkuli, the Director of Logistics at the DCI headquarters flanked by Mr. Bruno Shioso, the Police Spokesperson.

Sunkuli lauded the partnership as one that had played a major role in facilitating police operations.

His sentiments were echoed by other speakers at the event who also appreciated the partnership through the government leasing program.

The NPS was selected as the ideal institution to carry out the pilot program owing to its nature of operations.

The program was meant to initiate the motor vehicle leasing programme, as part of the security sector reforms aimed at building operational and logistical capacity and capability of NPS.

Last month, the police service received a fleet of 40 Volkswagen Tiguan vehicles. The vehicles were acquired through a leasing deal with RentCo Africa Limited.

In November, NPS also received 81 out of the 592 vehicles they are expected to receive from Toyota Kenya.

Leasing allows a client to use a vehicle for a fixed period of time, which could run up to five years while paying monthly fees as the dealer takes care of maintenance.
