The Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi engaged in a cold war over Mandago’s senatorial bid.

Speaking at an event in Uasin Gishu on Sunday, November 28, Sudi castigated Mandago’s senatorial ambition, stating that instead, he should run for a higher and more competitive position

The lawmaker stated that the senatorial ambition the governor is contesting for should be left for the young people who are setting a foundation in their political career.

Mandago had clearly stated this in October 2021, but Sudi pointed out that as a good leader, he should be going around with the deputy president William Ruto, to help him drum up support ahead of the 2022 general election.

"We elected you while slim and weak. Now that you're energetic, you are still going around Uasin Gishu, while some of us toil nationwide seeking votes for Ruto. It is time you get out like other men," Sudi stated.

Governor Mandago, who was in the same county, but at a different event told off Sudi, stating that instead of criticizing him, he should work on himself and his political career.

He stated that it is because of people like Oscar Sudi, that the county is always stagnating because he has a big role which he does not maximize.

“I have been here and I received information that the Kapseret MP doesn’t want me to run for the position of senator. Kwani kazi yake ni kupanga nani?" (Whose political future is he organizing?)

“There are such people who have been in parliament for 10 years and have never proposed even a single policy but are here yapping. That's why we can't move on as a country," the governor noted.

Mandago further stated that the senatorial post is demanding, and he believes in himself since he is not lazy, and has proven that in the past years he has been in power.

"I am not lazy, and that's why I want to go to the senate. I now want to urge all these people to stop with their nonsense because everyone has a right to sell their manifesto.

"I know where all these are coming from the boardroom, and I promise I will beat them like I did in 2017. Msiniletee na Msinijaribu. Mimi ni moto wa kuotea mbali," (Don't try me because nobody plays with me," he stated amid cheers from his supporters.

While concluding his remarks, Mandago stated that Sudi should stop trying to fix the county because that is not in his place. This Kapseret MP should fix his place instead of trying to fix the county," Mandago noted.
