The death of controversial House of Hope Pastor, Godfrey Migwi, came as a shock to many, specifically his family, friends, colleagues and congregants.

Those who had interacted with him during the week observed that Migwi was in his usual good spirits and did not look sick.

They added that the pastor had delivered a sermon on Sunday, November 28. The sermon was about Apostle Paul who saw the need to preach for long hours because he sensed he would not get an opportunity to preach again.

Speaking to the media, family spokesman, John Gathaiya, narrated that Migwi fell sick and his kin called for an ambulance after they noticed that his condition was deteriorating.

However, the pastor and aspiring politician passed on even before the ambulance could arrive on Thursday, December 3.

A pastor at the church, Mwangi Macharia, disclosed that Migwi had been battling high blood pressure related complications.

He divulged that the pastor had been admitted in hospital on August 8, 2021, but not many had learnt of his condition.

"People did not notice because Migwi was always pushing himself and loved giving people hope," Macharia stated.

Migwi is survived by a widow and four children.

The Bishop was a strong supporter of Deputy President William Ruto and was set to vie for Mathioya Parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

The DP has since mourned him as a bold, vocal, and powerful spiritual leader with a great sense of humour.

"He was a mentor and a friend with firm pastoral faith that he infused to many of us. We will miss his topical and nourishing sermons," his statement read.
