A police officer left behind an emotional note before taking his life. In the note, the Mombasa-based officer gave directives to his colleagues on what they should do before his burial.

The officer, of the rank of Police Constable, stated in the Thursday, December 9, suicide note that he was suffering depression and was unable to clear some debts that pushed him to the extreme.

In the suicide note, he detailed that he had a debt amounting to Ksh81,000 that he was struggling to settle. The debts ranged from Ksh50,000, Ksh4,000, and Ksh1,000 owed to different individuals.

He directed his colleagues to form a social media group and contribute the said amount and repay the said debt before or during his burial.

In a three-page note, the deceased also indicated that he owed some money to one of his seniors in the National Police Service.

"I request if you may form a WhatsApp group for a fundraiser. Out of that contribution, kindly submit Ksh24,000 to Sergent Maina," the note read in part.

He also asked his bosses not to investigate his death. He directed them to distribute his civilian clothes to whoever will require them.

"Just pick me and send me home," he noted with a special message to his family including his four children assuring them that he cherished them so much.

"I love you but I was not able to say goodbye, we will meet one day. Work hard in school."

The body of the Changamwe-based police officer was found dangling from the roof of his house. He had neatly arranged his clothes in one corner.

Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has, however, intervened clearing some of the debt left by the police officer.

Sonko revealed that he had cleared the Ksh17,000 and Ksh50,000 debts that they deceased indicated in the suicide note.

The former governor added that he was willing to support the family of the deceased with burial expenses so that the rest of the money collected during the fundraiser would be used to support them.

"I shall also be willing to give a coffin and hearse to transport the body of the late officer to its final resting place if the family and Changamwe OCS accept my offer so that all the funeral funds that will be raised through WhatsApp groups and other forums go directly to help the family in other important issues like paying for school fees," Sonko stated.

The officer took his life just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta urged police officers to always seek alternative solutions to their challenges.

This was after a Kabete-based police officer killed his wife before fatally shooting five other members of the public.
