Maragua Member of Parliament, Mary Wamaua, dramatically left Kasarani Stadium after being roughed up by security officers in charge of the Azimio La Umoja National Convention venue.

The Deputy President William Ruto-allied legislator had attended the event but was astonished over the hostile reception upon arrival, with the security guards and other officers shoving her repeatedly.

In a video that has since gone viral, the Legislator is seen engaging in a verbal altercation with the venue security detail, who she accuses of assaulting her.

She mocked the officers by asking them how they would treat people when Raila Odinga wins the presidency.

Wamaua protested the manner in which she was treated, shouting at the officers and asking them to handle people with courtesy and dignity.

"I am an elected Member of Parliament, but you are pushing me like a bag of potatoes," protested Wamaua.

Wamaua defected to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party led by Deputy President William Ruto in November 2021.

Her allegiance to Ruto, the most formidable opponent of Raila Odinga in the 2022 elections, might be the reason behind the hostility she faced while trying to make her way to the Odinga's event venue.

Delegates from across the country supporting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga's presidential bid in the 2022 elections gathered at the Kasarani Stadium on Friday, December 10, where they anticipate that he will officially declare his candidature.

The delegates are drawn from all the 47 counties with special groups supporting Odinga also represented.

The former Prime Minister has maintained that the wish to vie for the country's top position in 2020 is not self-driven, but derived from the wish of Kenyans who want to see him as their leader.

Should Odinga officially announce the bid, 2022 will be his fifth official contest for the presidency having unsuccessfully tried his luck in 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017.
