Milly, the 32-year-old lady who recently hit the headlines when she revealed that she had missed a university slot 14 years ago despite her exemplary KCSE performance has landed another life-changing deal.
Following her predicament, the hopeful mother of two now has more reasons to smile after landing a sponsorship deal to support her 17-year-old brother and her two children aged 5 and 3.
This comes after, Professor Henry Thairu, the Former Chairman of the Commission for University Education (CUE) pledged to support Milly Nafula's brother and her two children secure their education.
Professor Thiru noted that he will donate Ksh 10,000 yearly to support Nafula's brother and her two children.
He added that the donation will ease her burden as she pursues her degree in medicine.
''This will make her burden lighter,'' the professor noted.
Barely a day ago, Nafula had secured a full scholarship to pursue medicine at Mount Kenya University after the university's founder Chairman Prof Simon Gicheru was moved by her story and offered her a chance to study medicine at the University's main campus in Thika.
Nafula's life has been one difficult road to traverse, she had intimated in a previous interview that she had to resort to working at a posho mill in Trans Nzoia County in order to fend for her family.
Despite the challenges of being an orphan and with a range of responsibilities, she opened a savings plan, hoping that she will one day get an opportunity to fulfill her dreams of becoming a doctor.
Having scored an impressive A- with an aggregate of 71 points, she had hoped to secure a spot to pursue her dream course. however, that was not to be after she failed to receive an admission letter that would have allowed her to join the university.
Her story elicited mixed reactions from different parts of the country with some condemning the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) for what transpired. However, KUCCPS defended themselves stating that Nafula had been admitted to Moi University in 2008 to pursue a Degree in Tourism Management.
"Following media reports, KUCCPS has managed to trace the records of JAB and confirmed that Nafula was indeed admitted to Moi University in 2008 to pursue a Bachelor of Tourism Management course. KUCCPS has made contact with the administration of Moi University with a view that the institution takes up the matter Nafula, who was serial number 22 in the university's Bachelor of Tourism Management selection list of 2008/2009," KUCCPS noted.
