Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino was elated after the High Court dropped an attempted murder charge against him on Tuesday, December 14.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the outspoken lawmaker noted that he was grateful to God for seeing him through the period.

He further maintained that his family had formed a formidable bond with that of Felix Orinda, popularly known as DJ Evolve.

He noted that he entered into an out of court agreement with the family but declined to divulge any intricate details about their deal.

"I can just say God is so great. He has always been with me. He has never forsaken and never left me and I am thanking Him.

"There are a lot of things we agreed on medical and compensation of physical things. We agreed in the spirit of forgiveness. DJ Evolve's family is my family and mine is his. DJ Evolve is my brother forever," stated the lawmaker.

In a ruling that was delivered on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, the court allowed the withdrawal of the case by DJ Evolve.

The court, however, maintained that Owino be prosecuted in the second count of behaving disorderly while carrying a firearm.

The lawmaker declined to comment on the ongoing charge noting that the matter was still in court.

In March 2021, a Nairobi court ordered the full disclosure of the details of a reconciliation deal reportedly arrived at between the Embakasi East MP and DJ Evolve.

In October 2020, DJ Evolve stated that the family had agreed to drop the case through his lawyer and focus on getting better.

The prosecution responded by stating that they need time to establish the motivation behind the DJ’s sudden change of tune before the charges could be withdrawn.
