Media personality Linda Ogutu on Sunday, December 19, announced she had taken a sabbatical leave from the Standard Media Group.

Sources privy to the matter at the station alleged that Ogutu could not come into an agreement with the media outlet's management after landing an opportunity at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

In a statement to her followers, however, Ogutu stated she had taken a leave but did not indicate for how long.

"I have taken a sabbatical leave from the Standard Group Limited to serve in the FKF Secretariat. Tukutane kwa futa (Let's meet in the field). And mask up and get vaccinated... Hii Covid haitaki mchezo (Covid is no joke)," she wrote on Twitter.

Ogutu and her colleague Robin Toskin were among a group that landed new roles in the caretaker team constituted by Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage Amina Mohamed.

She was appointed as the head of the Secretariat to the committee, serving for a period of six months.

Toskin, who is the Head of Sport's desk at the Standard Group, and hosts Sports Chat, on KTN News is also reported to have taken a sabbatical over similar reasons.

He was also appointed to be part of the secretariat.

The duo will work under Retired Justice Aaron Ringera who has been tasked with the role of chairing the committee.

Their roles according to the report will include conducting all the affairs of FKF in accordance with its constitution, coordinating and ensuring the smooth running of FKF’s operations including team preparations of all local and international sporting events, overseeing elections of FKF in accordance with the Sports Act and the Sports Registrar’s regulations before handing over FKF to the newly elected officials.

The caretaker team took over from former FKF CEO Nick Mwenda's-led team, which was kicked out after Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohamed disbanded the Federation.
