Al Jazeera Journalist, Mohammed Adow, has declared his interest to vie for a parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2022 General Election.
During an event held in Wajir on Tuesday, January 4, Adow's bid for the Wajir South parliamentary seat received a major boost after elders of the Makabul clan endorsed his candidature.
At the function, the elders stated that that the Al Jazeera journalist was best suited to contest for the seat which is currently held by Mohammed Mohamud who was elected on a Jubilee ticket.
While announcing his bid at an earlier youth meeting, Adow stated that he would work together with local leaders to spearhead the development in the area.
"This continuous engagement with the people at the grassroots levels is prerequisite in development agenda setting. We deliberated emerging issues within the vast constituency and pursue them in a united front.
“We also agreed vested interest should not supersede communal interests. I took stock of the prevailing leadership gaps and laid out my vision and manifesto towards a better Wajir South," he stated.
The Al Jazeera journalist is currently based in Doha in Qatar and has been reporting for the international news outlet from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
According to the International media outlet, Al Jazeera stated that the journalist has vast experience of over 20 years having worked as a correspondent for the media house and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

"He holds a master’s degree in Media, Communications and Public Relations from the University of Leicester. Before joining Aljazeera English in 2006, Mohammed worked with the BBC World Service for 10 years.
