Judiciary Announces 105 Jobs With up to Ksh350K Monthly Pay

The Judiciary has announced a mass recruitment exercise with over one hundred positions to be filled.

In an advertisement published on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) website, the Judiciary announced job vacancies ranging from legal counsel to software engineers and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) assistants.

The Judicial Service Commission stated that it expects to receive all applications on or before the end of day 5pm on Friday 11, March.

The positions advertised are on a permanent and pensionable basis.

1. Among the positions, the Judiciary is seeking to fill is that of a legal counsel. There is only one post for this vacancy. The job holder will be responsible for conducting research, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, preparation of litigation documents and legal contracts.

The job holder will be responsible to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary and will be deployed to the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.

The successful candidate will be required to produce a bachelor’s degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law and have admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

JSC is offering a gross salary scale of between Ksh283,200 to Ksh360,600 per month for this position.

2. Senior Legal Researcher. There are 15 positions in this job category and the Judiciary is offering a gross salary scale of between Ksh180,000 – 324,000 monthly. 

The job is on a 3-year contract that is renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The Senior Legal Researcher is responsible for carrying out Legal Research work for a Judge performing judicial functions. The job holder is responsible to a designated Judge.

3. Legal Researcher. The JSC has 36 vacancies for this position which will be on a 3-year contract that is renewable subject to performance. The holders of this position will be offered a gross salary of between Ksh123,750 to Ksh190,000 per month.

A Legal Researcher is responsible to a Judge or Judicial Officer(s) in carrying out research work for the Judges or Judicial Officer(s) performing the Judicial functions.

The job holder is responsible to a designated Honourable Judge or Judicial Officer at the Court of Appeal, High Court, Environment and Land Court (ELC), or Magistrate Courts. The applicant should also be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya for at least three years.

4. Senior Protocol Officer position which is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh169,800 2to Ksh227,600 per month. 

The job holder will be responsible for managing and overseeing protocol processes, procedures, standards and guidelines within the Judiciary. The job holder is responsible to a designated supervisor. 

For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following social sciences disciplines: Public Relations, Communication, Diplomacy, or International Relations, any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

 

5. Protocol Officer II POST which is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh94,400 to Ksh118,900 monthly. 

The job holder will be responsible for executing incoming and outgoing Judiciary visits. The job holder is responsible to Protocol officer I and will be deployed to the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.

For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following social sciences disciplines: Public Relations, Communication, Diplomacy, International Relations, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

6. Senior ICT Officer - Research and Development post that is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh169,800 to Ksh227,600 per month.

The job holder will be responsible for building capacity and identifying new innovative technology towards the achievement of Judiciary adoption of technology for court services. Promoting ICT innovations and enterprise towards the achievement of digital Judiciary.

The job holder is responsible to the Assistant Director, ICT and will be deployed to the office of the Directorate of ICT.

7. Senior ICT Officer - Infrastructure position which is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh169,800 to Ksh227,600 per month. 

The job holder will be responsible for supervising the development, deployment and maintenance of key ICT infrastructure to ensure uptime of all online services. Overseeing all operations and support for the systems within the ICT Infrastructure.

The job holder is responsible to the Assistant Director, ICT and will be deployed to the Directorate of ICT.

8. Senior ICT Officer - Software Engineering position which is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh169,800 to Ksh227,600 monthly.

The job holder will be responsible for managing all stages of the software development cycle including early ideation, design, implementation, scaling and going live and the process meets the best practices for software development and documentation while meeting user requirements.

The job holder is responsible to the Assistant Director, ICT. He/she will be deployed to the office of the Directorate of ICT.

9. ICT Officer - Helpdesk Administrator position which is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging from Ksh169,800 to Ksh227,600 per month.

The job holder will be responsible for offering IT support functions, coordinating and delivering various ICT related services in accordance with the establishment. Providing responsive, professional service and technical support to staff to ensure efficient operation and use of ICT Systems, IT equipment and Internet services. 

The job holder is responsible to the Assistant Director, ICT and will be deployed to the office of the Directorate of ICT.

10. ICT Officer I - Software Programming position that is permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging between Ksh104,300 to Ksh131,100 monthly.

The job holder will be responsible for reviewing, writing, testing and approving codes while collaborating with other developers. The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer and they will be deployed to the office of the Directorate of ICT.

11. ICT Officer I - Database Administration position with a salary ranging between Ksh104,300 to Ksh131,100 per month. The post is permanent and pensionable.

The job holder will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, configuring, and maintaining databases in line with Judiciary requirements. The job holder is responsible for the Senior ICT Office and will work under the office of the Directorate of ICT.

12. ICT Officer I - ICT Security post that is permanent and pensionable and has a gross salary ranging between Ksh104,300 – Ksh131,100 per month.

The job holder will be responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining key ICT Security architecture and infrastructure to ensure all online services are secured. The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer and will work under the office of the Directorate of ICT.

13. ICT Officer I - Research & Development position with a gross salary ranging between Ksh104,300 – Ksh131,100 per month. The post is also permanent and pensionable. 

The job holder will be responsible for developing new solutions and technology to facilitate the capacity building of technical teams and identifying new innovative technology towards the achievement of adoption of technology for court services. The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer and will work under the office of the Directorate of ICT.

14. ICT Officer II - Software Programming position and there are 5 available slots for this vacancy. The position is permanent and pensionable with a monthly gross salary ranging between Ksh94,400 - Ksh118,900.

The job holder will be responsible for writing and testing code while collaborating with other developers.  The job holder is responsible to the ICT Officer I and they will be deployed to the office of the Directorate of ICT.

Successful candidates will be required to have knowledge/experience in working both front and back end (Full-Stack); with preferably PHP, Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, Node.js React, AWS, Django, Software Versioning Management using Git, API developments, Laravel, CodeIgniter is imperative.

15. ICT Officer II - Database Administrator post which is permanent and pensionable with a monthly gross salary ranging between Ksh94,400 – Ksh118,900.

The job holder will be responsible for implementing, installing, configuring, and maintaining databases in line with Judiciary requirements. The job holder is responsible to the ICT Officer I.

They will be required to possess knowledge/experience working with preferably MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SAP HANA and MSSQL.

16. ICT Officer II - System Administration post which is also permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging between Ksh94,400 – Ksh118,900 per month.

The job holder will be responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining key ICT infrastructure to ensure uptime of all online services. The job holder is responsible to the ICT Officer I.

17. ICT Officer II - ICT Security post that is also permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging between Ksh94,400 – Ksh118,900 monthly.

The job holder will be responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining Judiciary ICT security systems, solutions and programs. The job holder is responsible to the ICT Officer I.

18. ICT Assistant positions which are 31 and they are permanent and pensionable with a gross salary ranging between Ksh83,300 – Ksh106,400. The job holder will be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing the system and network issues and providing user support. The job holder is responsible for the Senior ICT Assistant they will be deployed to Court Stations.

For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have a Diploma in either: Computer Science, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

Applicants should also upload soft copies of their National Identity Card, a detailed and updated curriculum vitae, to include background information such as past employment record (if any), community service, financial discipline, pro bono activity (if any), past and present and legal professional engagement;

They have also been asked to provide names of three professional references and two character references who can verify and comment about the applicant’s past and present employment or engagement.

Applicants were also asked to provide a copy of their National Identity Card (ID), passport or any other relevant identifiable legal documents.

They will also be required to submit certified copies of admission certificates to the roll of advocates, testimonials, professional certificates and academic transcripts (applicable only to applicants in the legal field).
