Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.

The KDF Private, identified as Elly Kipkoech from 9KA was arrested in Uasin Gishu county and taken to the Langas Police Station on Sunday afternoon. According to DCI report, this was after the victim positively identified him as the perpetrator.

The report further indicated that the minor, who is a class seven pupil, arrived home Saturday night at around 7:30pm. She later explained to her mother that she was late because she had been held hostage by a man who took advantage of her.

“Upon further interrogation, the mother noticed blood stains on her daughter's undergarments and pleaded with her to reveal the identity of the perpetrator,” read the report.

After filing the report, detectives from Eldoret employed digital and cyber forensics to track the suspect who had gone into hiding at Green Park Estate.

The officer was nabbed and is currently being processed for arraignment in accordance with military parlance.

Both the victim and the offender have undergone medical tests at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, and their samples taken for further analysis as police piece together evidence.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Anti Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit, remains on high alert following an increase in sexual offences,” stated DCI.

The incident comes day after, a 21 year old house help was sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a four-year old boy and filming the act for online sale.

The accused, Edda Wakesho was charged by Shanzu Chief Magistrate, Florence Macharia, after she pleaded guilty to two sexual offences.

The tape was viewed in court as part of evidence that the motive was for financial gain.

“The four-year old child had no idea of what was happening to him. His innocence was taken away by the accused. She is therefore sentenced to serve life imprisonment,” read the magistrate.

Records stated that Wakesho, who was working for the minor’s parents, left her job in October 2021, after demanding payment.

She confirmed to the court that she was remorseful saying that she committed the offence under duress.

“I had been promised a job, so was forced to commit the offences in a way to make ends meet," she told the court as she pleaded for leniency.
