Kandara MP Alice Wahome has for years built a reputation as an unmistakable force pushing for the election of Deputy President William Ruto for the country's top seat.

Since March 2018 when cracks developed between the DP and his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta, Wahome has emerged as one of the DP's closest allies to the extent she is considered a frontrunner for the running mate slot.

In a remarkable team of political tolerance, one of those who have been on the frontline against Ruto is Wahome's son George Ng'ayu.

Although he holds no formal position in the campaign team of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Ng'ayu has established himself as a force in anti-Ruto messaging and supporting the Azimio La Umoja movement.

The lawyer works for a consulting firm that is owned by President Uhuru Kenyatta's political advisor Mutahi Ngunyi. He is also a regular on Ngunyi's television station 5th Estate.

In one clip that went viral, Ng'ayu condemned Deputy President William Ruto and claimed that he was a detractor of the Head of State.

He further compared the relationship between the duo to George Orwell's Animal Farm which tells the tale of a leader with a plan and a detractor executing a scheme.

"Ruto has urinated on the president's plan without giving an alternative and so I ask, is he a friend or an enemy?.

"Dear house of Gema, Uhuru Kenyatta has proposed to increase revenue allocation to Gema by almost 80 billion and so I ask, what is wrong with that? Between a man who doubles your revenue or one who tells you to reject the money, who is your enemy?" he posed.

Describing himself as an individual with a vision for his goals and the future, Ng'ayu earned his Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree from the University of Leeds where he also served as the Leeds East African Society President.

After his graduation in 2017, he joined his mother's law firm - Wahome and Akedi Advocates before moving to Ngunyi's Consulting House as a Junior Research Fellow in December 2020.

Prior to joining the legal world, Ng'ayu was an outspoken artist with scrapbooks he had scribbled some ideas in and cashed in on his creativity at the nudging of his friends.

"What are these scrapbooks to me? These are my ideas to express myself. To put down sketches and creative ideas. A few of my friends would ask me, 'what are you going to do with these ideas?

"So I thought, 'let me get into printing T-shirts.' I put down all my creativity and printed them on T-shirts," he stated explaining that his plan backfired as he faced intense pressure.

Away from politics and consultancy, Ng'ayu is a visual artist and has developed creative work for leading corporates in Kenya and has also had his pieces displayed on leading galleries.
