Citizen TV'S Zora actresses were feted in the Women In Film Awards held at the Nairobi Theatre on Thursday, March 10.
Jackie Matubia who plays the role of Nana in the drama series scooped the best female actress award.
Her co-actress, Angela Otieno (Fila), who won hearts with her singing prowess, also bagged the best actress in the kid's category.
The young thespian who made her acting debut in Zora is currently pursuing at a film and television school in the United Kingdom.
Catherine Wamuyu the producer of Tahidi High and Mother-in-Law was also feted during the third edition of the awards.
She bagged the best producer for both shows and was lauded for keeping them on air for over seven years. Wamuyu doubles up as a senior Production Manager at Inooro TV.
Fiddy Wambui won the best director award for her role in Mother-in-Law. Royal Media Services thus bagged a total of four awards in the ceremony.
The Women in Film Awards aims at bringing women filmmakers in the country together to provide a platform where their stories and voices are recognised.
It honours outstanding professionals who contribute to the growth of the film sector in the country.
"There’s a need for a festival that affords women filmmakers of any background the chance to be showcased in a truly empowering light.
"As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I stand here proud and elated that we are honouring these women who have done tremendous work in the film industry," Susan Gitimu stated, the Awards director Women In Film Awards stated.
