Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party leader, Moses Kuria, now says that he knew of inner details of the deal President Uhuru Kenyatta made to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga.

Speaking in Kiambu during the launch of his agenda for the county on Friday, March 11, Kuria stated that he was made aware of the deal and its details by Raila - whom he termed as his very close friend. The outspoken Legislator revealed that had informed him that he was going to retire after the 2017 polls.

The Gatundu South Member of Parliament stated that Raila was ready to go home after losing in the 2017 Presidential election but the handshake deal with the President made this impossible.

Kuria claimed that Uhuru talked Raila out of retirement and promised to hand over power to him as well as campaign for the ODM leader in the 2022 presidential race.

According to Kuria, Raila had no choice but to listen to Uhuru's promises and in return, together with his allies, started pushing the narrative against Uhuru's retirement.

The Gatundu South lawmaker went on to claim that the President was in the wrong for convincing Raila to get back into elective politics. He opined that even Uhuru was ready to retire after his term ends in 2022 but has now created a dilemma.

"In 2017, he (Raila) was ready to go home and Uhuru told him not to retire and that is unfair. I know the President was also ready to retire but Raila decided to pull him back into the political arena. My simple message to Raila Odinga is that his time to retire has come and you should retire in peace and Kenya will be okay.

"My message to Uhuru Kenyatta is your time to retire and go home with dignity and pride is here. God has helped us, children of poor people, to also enter into politics and we are capable of taking this country forward," Kuria stated.

Kuria also vowed to deliver a decisive victory in the Kiambu gubernatorial race, terming his competitors as inexperienced.

“I promise to conduct a peaceful campaign free of insults. All my competitors are juniors in the political field. I consider them interns,” the Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant stated.

The meeting was attended by businessman Jimi Wanjigi (Safina Party), Martha Karua (NARC Kenya) and Mwangi Kiunjuri (The Service Party).

Last week, Kuria announced that his Chama Cha Kazi party was in talks with the Kenya Kwanza political faction on a possible pre-election coalition.

His announcement was an indication that he will work with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party linked to Deputy President William Ruto, Amani National Congress (ANC) of Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya of Moses Wetangula.
