Days after signing a deal to host Kenya's biggest comedy show, TV47 has continued to give legacy media houses a run for their money after recruiting a high profile news anchor to join the team.

Former K24 news anchor Karen Karimi landed a lucrative deal at the fast-rising station and is set to start anchoring in the coming weeks.

The station has already prepared a teaser to introduce the journalist and was shared by Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill on his social media platforms even as he asked his followers to guess who was joining the station.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a source as the station stated that Karimi will be hosting the weekend shows from Fridays.

"Karimi will be hosting evening prime news during the weekends and will join the team after

the TV station welcomes Churchill and his show," the source indicated.

Karimi left K24 in 2017 announced that she was leaving the station to pursue other interests in her private life.

"To the entire team at  K24 tv family, thank you. To all my fans, I love you so much. Moving on to greater things," she stated then

At K24, the journalist was the host of the Evening edition. Besides her role in front of the camera, she was also a feature writer of People Daily which is owned by Media Max Ltd.

TV47 had been rebranding and has signed some of the local talents in the industry in the last couple of months.

During his contract signing in early March, Churchill was welcomed by top management and staff at the station with his first recorded show expected to premiere on TV station on March 20th.

“On 19th March at Mount Kenya University, inside the ultra-modern 3,000-seater-Mwai Kibaki Convention centre, Thika, we bring you back what you’ve been asking for - Churchill show on the move.

"Super excited to be back on stage with new big acts and a whole New Experience and yes we have a new Home,” he stated.

TV47 is owned by MKU founder Prof Simon Gicharu and run by Cape Media Limited.
