"For the longest time, we have not had a leader who is born and raised in Mathare. I want to officially state that I am vying for the Mathare parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

"Our people have been crying over the same issues and when you are led by an outsider, they fail to understand the sufferings of the people," he stated.

On his part, Kega welcomed the aspirations of the musician, stating that the party will help him achieve his political aspirations.

"Welcome to the party. You will be taken around so that you can tell us which position you will be vying for. We have tickets for all positions except the presidency," he stated

Kega, the newly appointed Director of Elections at the party, stated that the musician's addition was an added advantage to the party and that Azimio La Umoja will benefit from his move.

Over the years, the musician has shared close ties with the party and is remembered for sitting on the President's seat as the party function held at the Kasarani Stadium months before the 2017 polls.

The Adhiambo hitmaker recently released a song with former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

Bahati will battle it out with incumbent Mathare MP and ODM politician, Antony Oluoch.
