Former Nation FM Journalist, Maqbul Mohamed, has been appointed the head of NRG radio.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Maqbul expressed optimism that he will steer the Westlands-based radio station to the next level in his new role.
Maqbul noted that his decision to join NRG was informed by the opportunity to work with a young, energetic team that holds the key to the future of the media industry in Kenya.
"With NRG, it has always been something I wanted to do for a very long time because of how they are structured and it is where modern radio should be. I had an inclination to work with them, so when the opportunity came up, I didn't hesitate," he noted.
The new NRG radio head did not, however, divulge many details about the contract but noted that the agreement was reached this month.
"We have been talking for a while with NRG and the talks culminated this month. I officially began working this week," he stated.
On whether he will host any show or he will work behind the scenes, Maqbul stated that his main role at the moment is to prepare the next generation of radio personalities.
"I know a lot of people are curious about this, so I will keep it a bit of mystery right now. At the moment, we are still looking into it. Though what I can say is that it is the time for the young people to shine and grow their talent."
Besides being on radio, the Crime and Justice actor noted that they had just wrapped the TV show's second season and informed fans to brace for an even better third season.
Maqbul joined Nation FM in June 2021 and left the station late last year. He worked at Capital FM as a presenter for over 10 years and exited on May 31, 2019.
"One last time at Capital FM, tune in now," he stated as he announced his final show at the station.
Apart from hosting radio shows, Maqbul is famed for his acting roles in TV shows such as Auntie Boss, Makutano Junction and Reflections.
