Educations Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha, released the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results on Saturday, April 23.
The results were released after being presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta. This year's KCSE saw 831,015 students examined in the months of March and April.
The exams were done in 10,413 centres. For students to access their results, they can either use the short SMS service or the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) portal.
To check results, students are advised to send their index number followed by KCSE (in capital letters) to the number 20076. Note, that there should be no spacing after the index number's last digit and the initials KCSE.
The service is available on all telecommunication networks in the country (Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom) and each SMS will be charged at Ksh25.
To access the results online, candidates are advised to visit the Kenya National Examinations Council portal, click on the KCSE results tab, select the year they sat the exam and enter the index number.
The results should show on the resultant screen after you click submit.
Getting results via the KNEC portal is also advantageous since the candidate can print them. For further assistance, candidates were advised to contact the KNEC helpline at 0800724900.
The national exams were conducted peacefully although learning for the past two years was disrupted by the pandemic.
Upon receipt of their results, KCSE candidates will be placed in tertiary learning institutions including universities and technical colleges.
The placement procedure will, however, be made public by the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
On March 22, Magoha released the KCPE 2021 results with KNEC having examined 1,225,507 candidates in 28,316 examination centres as compared to 1,191,752 candidates in 28,467 centres in 2020.
This reflected an increase of 33,755 representing 2.75 per cent.
