  • Results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2020 are currently being released by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha following a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

While announcing the results on Monday, May 10, Magoha noted that for the students to access their results, they will be required to send an SMS message to [20076] with the candidate's index number followed by KCSE (In capital letters).

The CS also directed that there should be no spacing after the index number's last number and the initials KCSE.

The service is available for all three network providers in the country Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom.

The cost of each SMS is Ksh 25.

Due to the urgency and high demand for the results, sometimes the platform has delays and patience is required.

To check KCSE results online, candidates are also advised to go to the Kenya National Examinations Council portal, click on the KCSE results tab, look for the year you sat for the exam and enter your Index number.

The results should show on the resultant screen after you click submit.

The advantage of getting the results through the Knec portal is one can print the online results.

In case one needs more information, one can contact the KNEC helpline at 0800724900.

The paper, which was among the most challenging in the Ministry of Education's history, was sat by over 700,000 candidates beginning March 2021.

The marking of the examination was concluded on Friday, May 7, and took an estimated three-week period.

Candidates have been waiting for the results with bated breath and anxiety following the circumstances the tests were administered.

However, the results are only provisional because the Ministry of Education requires candidates to pick the results from their respective examination centres.
