45 passengers aboard a Nairobi-bound bus escaped unhurt after it burst into flames on the morning of Monday, May 2.
Footage seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed that the incident took place along Nairobi-Kisumu Highway near a Petrol Station.
The bus belonging to Guardian Angel, is said to have caught fire after a tyre burst in Kisumu.
All the passengers were safely evacuated with investigations into the cause of the fire launched by the Police.
Witnesses told the presses that some of the luggage aboard the bus could not be salvaged as the bus fire spread quickly.
Preliminary reports have revealed that the bus was en route to Nairobi from Busia.
The incident comes a day after gunmen sprayed bullets at a 14-seater-matatu in Kainuk area leaving nine with serious injuries.
Turkana South Sub-County police commander Robert Kibuchi noted the gunmen sprayed the vehicle with bullets, leaving eight passengers and the matatu driver in critical condition.
In December 2021, a Modern Coast bus had also burst into flames in an incident the transport company noted came about while driver manoeuvered out of an accident scene - the bus hit a pothole which triggered ignition because of friction.
The bus had left Mumias for Mombasa when the unfortunate incident occurred along the Chavakali-Kapsabet Road.
"The bus had 20kg dry powder fire extinguisher which is suitable for burning solids and liquids, however, the crew could not manage the huge flame that was triggered by petrol spill from one of the cars," the logistics firm's statement read in part at the time.
