Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, now argues that former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga's chances of winning the August 9 polls are dwindling, accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of meddling with the running of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

Speaking at an interview on Tuesday, May 10, Kuria alleged that the Head of State was behind the secrecy in Azimio that has seen some leaders such as Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, and his Kilifi counterpart, Amason Jeffa Kingi, decamp.

He asserted that if Raila was fully in charge, then Mutua and Kingi would not have left the coalition. He, however, said the disorganisation is a blessing for Kenya Kwanza as it will welcome all those feeling neglected by Azimio.

Kuria explained that Raila is a democrat who always engages disgruntled party members before a possible fallout within his political outfits.

"This is not the typical Raila Odinga way of doing things. Even in his heydays, he was more consultative and a team player. It was unbelievable when I talked to Mutua and Kingi, they told me they signed the last pages of the document.

"The President kept telling them not to worry and that everything will be alright," he stated.

Additionally, he stated that Azimio would collapse before the August 9 polls, adding that Uhuru's secrecy led to the downfall of the Jubilee Party.

"Coming from Jubilee, this was the way of doing things. That is how we lost our party. We are seeing the hallmarks of what we saw in Jubilee creeping into Azimio."

Nonetheless, he cautioned the Azimio presidential candidate against relying on Uhuru's government support, claiming that the ODM boss had lost his vigor in the campaigns.

"They say that even when the titanic was sinking and people were escaping, the band was still playing music. That is what is happening in Azimio. Even after some have left, the orchestra is still playing music. They will not see it coming until August 9. They will always say that some are inconsequential.

"Raila Odinga has chosen to drop his traditional way of doing things and he believes that for some reason that the President of this country has a magic button," he added.
