The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has flagged a job offer with a monthly salary of Ksh142,000 on a three years contract.
According to the communication by the roads authority released on Thursday, May 12, the job offer is fake and aimed at defrauding unsuspecting Kenyans.
KeNHA further highlighted a letter sent to one victim which contained all credentials of the agency promising the applicant a Project Manager's position.
The mail indicated that the victim was expected to report on June 1, 2022, at their Head Office on Baraba Plaza Block A, Jomo Kenyatta International Aiport (JKIA), opposite KCAA headquarters.
The fake job offer letter had proposed a mandatory one-week training in which the candidate was expected to pay Ksh180,000 in two installments.
The candidates were also required to share their personal documents such as identification cards, Curriculum vitae, letter of recommendation, and Kenya Institute Of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) specialised course training certificate.
But according to KeNHA, the letter is part of a new scheme aimed at scamming job-seekers across the country. The authority noted that vacancies are only published in local dailies and on its website.
The body has been a target by job scammers in the last few months especially with the ongoing construction of the multi-billion shilling Nairobi Expressway.
In April, the authority flagged another job offer letter promising applicants a monthly salary of up to Ksh76,000.
"It has come to our attention that there are people purporting to be working for KeNHA and are sending employment offer letters to individuals."
"KeNHA vacant positions are only advertised through National Dailies and KeNHA website. Interviews are conducted for the shortlisted applicants and successful candidates are issued with official appointment offer letters. KeNHA does not ask for money for the recruitment process," the authority stated.
