Two foreigners were victims of a daring robbery in Kisumu Central Business District on Monday night, May 16, as the city hosts the Africities summit.

The foreigners, who were at a hotel in the lakeside city, in the company of their colleagues, had placed their phones on the table where they were sitting.

As they engaged in conversations with friends a man was seen on the CCTV casually walking in the restaurant while speaking to someone on the phone.

He moved closer to the table where the foreigners were sitting and pretended to be taking the seat next to them. He hung up the phone and put his mobile device in his pocket before snatching the two mobile phones that were on the table.

The suspected thief quickly dashed for the door and although the foreigners run after him one of them falls at the door while the others tried to pursue the crook.

A customer who was in the same restaurant was also seen trying to chase after the thief and hotel workers joined in too. The thief ran away with the two mobile phones.
