  • A form one student's dreams are now valid after a police OCS and his colleagues gifted him Ksh 200,000 for school fees.

The student, Simon Muthama, who scored 403 marks, had been taken to Machakos High school for admission by his grandfather without school fees or any personal effects.

After a failed admission attempt, his grandfather approached the OCS of the nearest police station, who organized a funds drive with his colleagues and raised Ksh 200,000.

"We don't only arrest, we are also compassionate and we assist the community in one way or the other and this is one of the ways.

"This also touched us. We are parents, we are uncles, we have relatives and this is what we go through daily. He brought the plight of the boy to us and we did short fundraising for him and we managed to get Ksh200,000," stated the Police OCS to the press.

His grandfather noted that he had gone to the police for help and that they were kind and generous to support him.

"When I met him (the OCS) and he saw the status of the child, he promised to buy a metallic box and without wasting time, he brought it," stated the grandfather.

Touched by his brevity, the OCS took the child under his wing and opened him a bank account for his schooling needs.

He further noted that they had taken Simon as their responsibility and would meet his needs as a team whether they are transferred or not.

"Simon is now our baby and we love him. We will take that responsibility whether we work in Machakos or we are transferred.

"We have made that commitment to ourselves and we have opened an account for him for whatever needs he requires," added the OCS.

Ksh180,000 has already been paid to Machakos High School to cater for his entire four-year tuition.
