President Uhuru Kenyatta excited Kenyans after he showed up at Uhuru Gardens for the KDF Museum Air Show while driving Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The President, who was received by KDF officials, waved to the crowd which cheered widely ahead as the airshow attended by thousands of Kenyans on Saturday, May 28 commenced.
Uhuru and Abiy also took the time to greet the kids who were in attendance as they headed to their seats.
State House also indicated that the President made the impromptu visit to the KDF air show.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta and visiting Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali on Saturday made an impromptu appearance at the Museum Airshow Festival held at the newly redesigned Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi City County," the statement read.
"The airshow, organised by the Kenya Defence Forces and the Aero Club of Kenya, was held as a forerunner to the official opening of the new Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum," State House added.
Thousands of Kenyans attending the airshow were treated to brilliant aerobatics and extreme manoeuvres by Kenya Air Force jets and a rich selection of corporate and civilian aircraft.
The Air show led by Kenya Air Force (KAF) boasted both military and civilian aerobatics capabilities aimed at engaging and entertaining the public.
“You are all invited to witness this spectacular show of scintillating aerobatics by Kenya Air Force jets and extreme manoeuvres by a variety of helicopters in their inventory,” KDF stated.
Other participants included Phoenix Aviation Cessna Sovereign, Kenya Airways Embraer 190 fly-past, Farmland Aviation firefighting display and aerobatics by Mark Hensman from South Africa among others.
“Passengers scheduled to travel on Saturday through Wilson Airport are advised to check with their respective airlines for flight status updates,” the KCAA stated on Twitter prior to the air show.
