While wooing Kiambu electorates with his development agenda, the legislator explained that his idea to set aside the funds stems from Deputy President William Ruto's campaigns strategy to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) all over the country.

Kuria noted that on top of Ruto's promise of setting aside Ksh150 million for each constituency, he will top up the amount with Ksh100 million making the total amount accessible for each constituency to Ksh250 million.

"The Single most factor that's chaining our people to poverty is access to credit and capital. This country officially belongs to Shylocks.

"Since you need to belong to a SACCO to access this money, you have 70 days left to join a SACCO of your choice in Kiambu County," Kuria stated in his statement.

Kiambu gubernatorial race has attracted top political leaders seeking to floor the incumbent Governor James Nyoro.

Nyoro who is seeking to defend his title on the Jubilee Party ticket will face it off with four candidates allied to Kenya Kwanza Coalition.

The four are the current Kiambu Senator Kimani wa Wamatangi who clinched the UDA nomination ticket, Kuria, Tujibebe Party leader William Kabogo and Thika Town Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina, popularly known as Jungle who will vie as an independent candidate.

Despite Kenya Kwanza being at risk of its votes being split, Ruto tasked each of the aspirants with pushing for economic recovery in their campaign manifestos and was confident that the alliance will win by a majority.
