Kenya Kwanza principal and Farmers Party of Kenya chair, Irungu Nyakera, has accused his younger sister, Joyce Wambui Njoki, of disrespect for campaigning for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Nyakera faulted his sister over what he termed as contempt and disregard after she accepted the role of being the official campaigner of the Azimio coalition within Murang'a county.

The FPK chair, who is in the Murang'a gubernatorial race, took credit of his sister's success. Njoki is also vying for the Kiru Ward seat under the Jubilee ticket in the August 9 polls.

"Raila even came to our place and appointed my sister as his official campaigner. This is my sister whom I have taken to school, hosted her in my house and placed her children in school, is that how you show respect?" he posed the query to the crowd.

"Despite their efforts, I can assure you that this seat belongs to this household. All of you have borne witness to the work that I have done," he added.

According to recent statements by Njoki, she has constantly accused the Kenya Kwanza coalition of being a backtrack and recursive system that is not the ideal solution to the problems experienced by Kenyans.

"If you are in Azimio, you are safe, if you are in Kenya Kwanza, there are two things involved; it is either you are a sycophant or you don't understand how things work. There is only one thing involved, you will join Azimio la Umoja government," she recently stated.

Njoki has also criticised Deputy President, William Ruto, for allegedly using Mt Kenya leaders within his coalition in order to serve his agenda.

On the other hand, her brother had initially endorsed Raila during Azimio's National Delegates Conference (NDC) held on March 12, 2022, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

However, ten days later, Nyakera decamped to UDA after holding a meeting with Ruto at his Karen office. Issuing a statement later, Nyakera noted that his decision was based on the fact that his party resonated with Kenya Kwanza's economic policies.

"I believe in the economic elevation of farmers. I believe we would be in better hands under a coalition that prioritizes the economic development of ordinary mwananchi, particularly farmers. That is Kenya Kwanza," he stated.

On June 5, Nyakera's party was officially recognised by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) as among the 11 parties that constituted the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
