The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), on Monday, June 13, announced a naming competition for a newly-constructed building, with Ksh100,000 up for grabs.
In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, PSC Director General Clement Nyandiere invited Kenyans to suggest names for the Parliament annexe.
Nyandiere noted that the suggestions should be in line with the noble legislative role that Parliament plays in the country.
"The name must be catchy, reflect the values of the institution of Parliament and its stature. The winning proposal shall be awarded Ksh100,000," the statement read in part.
In addition, the commission encouraged interested participants to front names that honour minority groups in the House. Applicants will also be required to give a justification for their choice of names.
"Names that celebrate underrepresented groups in legislature, especially women or minority groups who have made great advances but did not receive appropriate historical recognition, are also encouraged," the statement added.
However, proposed names cannot be of an active member but a person who is of full emeritus status (deceased) and should not be under copyright, trademark, or other legal restriction.
Applicants have been asked to make their submissions on or before Monday, June 20, by 11.a.m. The entries will be reviewed by a committee, which will shortlist the best for final consideration.
How to Apply.
1. Interested applicants should download the entry forms from the Parliamentary Service Commission website at www.parliament.go.ke/downloads.
2. Each nomination should contain the entrants name, a proposal of the building name, a one-line pitch and a description not more than 250 words.
3.After completing the forms, drop them in the tender box on the fourth floor at Protection House or send it via email to dg@parliament.go.ke or procurementpjs@parliament.go.ke.
This is the second competition advertised by government allowing the youth to express their creativity. On March 29, the Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital announced a Ksh150,000 logo design competition as part of its rebranding strategy.
