The mystery lady implicated in the murder of popular social media influencer, Frank Obegi and three of his confidants has revealed that she was conned Ksh100,000 by one of the deceased persons.

Doreen Makena, Elijah Omeka's lover, now claims that she was conned Ksh100,000 by Fred Obare in an academic writing scam.

Media reports indicated that Makena held a phone conversation with Fred on Thursday afternoon, June 16, requesting him to return the funds.

After a verbal agreement between the two, Fred went missing later that day, with the family revealing that Makena was the last person to speak to their kin.

Initial reports indicated that Makena had sought Fred's help in the search for her missing boyfriend - Elijah.

"Makena called Stephanie Mburu (Fred's wife) asking whether her husband had arrived home but he had not. His phone was switched off at 2.30 pm the same day, moments after he spoke to Makena. That was the last time we heard from him," Fred's brother Finley Mokaya stated.

Makena has since expressed fear after the mutilated bodies of both her boyfriend and her alleged scammer were found in Kijabe forest.

"I am worried about the incident and I am not ready to talk about the issue right now,” she told the media.

Reports indicated that she has since relocated from Nairobi to an unknown location after the incident, with Fred's family alleging that she was not cooperating with them on the matter.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kasarani OCPD Peter Mwanzo confirmed that both women were yet to record their statements with the police in order to give their account of how the events unfolded.

"The DCI was to record statements from Mburu and Makena. So the Directorate ought to have the progress on the situation," he stated.

Police have revealed that Fred, who conducted multiple business dealings with Elijah was heading to seal another deal regarding academic accounts on the Thursday evening before he went missing.

Kasarani police boss noted that they were trying to establish the events that led to the death of the four friends whose bodies were discovered in Kijabe forest, Kiambu county on Sunday, June 19.

Further, another body belonging to Jubilee MCA aspirant, Joseph Ng'endo Njau, was found near the same area on Thursday, June 23. The politician had been linked to past criminal activities involving drug trafficking.
