Old videos of Kenya Kwanza coalition presidential running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, reprimanding Azimio la Umoja lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, have resurfaced online.

The interview held on Inooro TV's Kiririmbi show, hosted by news anchor Francis Gachuri, trended for the better part of Tuesday morning, July 12.

Rigathi called out the Advocate of the High Court for interjecting him during the interview, calling on Gachuri to refrain him from talking.

The legislator called for Gachuri to invite a befitting politician for the next interview.

"You used to sing and dance for me when you were a lad. (To Gachuri), please, never call me again to discuss with this young man. Call me when you have a real gentleman or a seasoned politician to debate with,” Gachagua stated.

Further, another video also surfaced of Gachagua castigating the lawyer during a rally held in May 2022. The Mathira MP noted that Kiambaa Member of Parliament Njuguna Wanjiku was best suited to deal with the likes of Njiru as he preferred seasoned politicians as opposed to youngsters.

"Tell them to head to Parliament alongside lawyer Ndegwa Njiru who pitches camp at the Kiririmbi show. We will send Njuguna (Wanjiku) alongside Ndegwa to contend with on the show. They need to bring a seasoned politician who I can debate with other than younger and inexperienced politicians," Gachagua stated.

The Kenya Kwanza running mate has been a man under siege for his past remarks that, critics have argued, could dent DP William Ruto's fortunes.

In June 2022, Gachagua had raised the ire of Kenyans after making claims that the blue uniforms, worn by police originally belonged to the PCEA's Women's Guild and ought not to be shared by the security forces.

He, however, clarified his statements later, noting that they were taken out of context.

"The other day I said that we will cage the police uniform and they twisted what I said. For many years that blue uniform has been for the PCEA Church specifically for the Women's Guild. Even schools do not take the uniform of other schools," Gachagua stated in a rally in Kiambu county on June 17, 2022.
