President Uhuru Kenyatta heaped praise on Azimio La Umoja's presidential running mate Martha Karua noting that she is a trusted public servant and her no-nonsense character makes her a good fit for the deputy president's role.

Speaking in Embakasi on Tuesday, July, 12, Uhuru compared himself to Karua, noting that she was a stickler for the rule of law and won't relent on punishing leaders accused of graft and land grabbing, unlike him.

The President was certain that Karua would strive to ensure that leaders accused of stealing from public coffers face the full wrath of the law.

He rallied behind Karua and her presidential candidate, Azimio La Umoja's Raila Odinga, stating that they were better poised to lead the nation.

"I am asking you please to vote for Raila. The peace we enjoy is a result of our efforts to put aside our political differences. I also applaud him because he chose to work with a woman of character, Martha Karua," Uhuru stated.

"I know she will not be lying around watching as public lands are grabbed. They will be jailed. She is not lenient like me and I trust her to get the job done," he added.

He further dismissed calls by Kenya Kwanza led by Deputy President William Ruto that he should exit his office. Uhuru indicated that he would steer the country and until his last day in office.

"They are telling me that I should keep quiet and go home, but I want to tell them I am going nowhere. I will do my work until my last day,"

"There are still hospitals to be opened. There are roads under construction. There is a lot of work and important government projects that are supposed to be done."

Uhuru addressed the residents after presiding over the official opening of Mwiki level 3 Hospital in Kasarani constituency. He also commissioned Mihang'o Hospital and presided over the issuance of title deeds at Muhuri Muchiri Stadium in Ruai.

The head of state noted that 28 more new levels 2 and 3 health facilities were constructed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) under director general Mohamed Badi.

Badi, Governor Anne Kananu, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and former Nairobi county boss Mike Sonko had accompanied Uhuru to the rallies.

Sonko shared a light moment with Uhuru after he asked Nairobi residents to vote for Jubilee's gubernatorial candidate, Polycarp Igathe, to ensure Uhuru's legacy lives on

He opined that the president had done a superb job in Nairobi following his impeachment on December 17, 2020.
