The plane lost control as the pilot struggled to land at the airport.

Jubba Airways is a privately owned company registered in Kenya. It carries domestic and regional flights with frequent lands at the airport in Mogadishu.

According to media reports, the plane was landing from Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of the Southwest state of Somalia.

This is the second Kenyan plane that crashed in Somalia within the recent past.

On July 21 last year, a Skyward Airlines plane with 45 passengers on board crash-landed at ELWAK Somalia while on its way to Mandera.

The accident occurred after the plane skidded off the runway at Elwak airstrip in Gedo, near Mandera, damaging its propeller and landing gear. All passengers on board escaped unhurt.

The light aircraft was monitoring a locust invasion when it crashed.
