Celebrated KTN News anchor and business reporter, Brian George Otieno, has quit the station after three years.

In a disclosure to Kenyans.co.ke, a source privy to the ongoing said that the reporter has already served notice and would leave the Mombasa Road-based media house by August 4.

"Yes, August 4, will be his last working day at KTN News," the source disclosed.

During his three year stint at the station, Otieno was a business reporter for KTN News and KTN Home.

He joined the Standard Media Group in 2019. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Management from Moi University and a higher diploma from The Aga Khan University. He is currently pursuing a Masters Programme at the same institution, majoring in Digital Journalism.

Sources close to him said he is headed to Kimathi Street-based NTV.

His resignation comes hardly two weeks after two other senior Journalists quit KTN News.

On July 13, busines journalist Brenda Kerubo also quit KTN News after three years.

"3 years and 7 months. How time flies. Today I will anchor my last bulletin at 9:30am on KTN News, a place I consider home because of the people. A place where my career rose to a level I would never have imagined. I knew from a young age television is for me but to achieve everything that I have in the last 10 years of broadcast journalism," she announced.

Her departure came barely two days after Ibrahim Karanja left the media house for a position at NTV.

Karanja had served for over three years at the station, having joined SG in September 2018 as a reporter based in Nyeri before being moved to Nakuru.

KTN News has also been hit by a mini-reshuffle that saw its reporter Kevin Ogutu exit while other senior reporters were re-assigned reporting beats.

The business desk is now left with its head, Aby Agina, and reporter Noah Kipkemboi.

An insider at KTN News said that screen test are currently ongoing to replace both Kerubo and Otieno.

NTV has been on an offensive raiding other media houses for talents even as the country heads to the polls.

Latest journalist to join the Nation Media Group run station is TV47's seasoned news anchor, Fredrick Muitiriri.
