Politicians allied to UDA flag-bearer William Ruto have vowed to teach the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti a lesson should he raid the deputy president's home.
Speaking on Monday, July 25 during a rally in Kesses, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro took issue with the raid of an office on the 9th floor at Transnational Plaza - an office Ruto's team had earlier denounced.
Nyoro claimed that after raiding the premises, Kinoti had planned to storm the UDA candidate's residence in Karen.
"I would like to warn a man called Kinoti, who feels like he can now go to the DP's office and that he even intends to carry out a similar operation in Ruto's home.
"If you are man enough, I dare you to even as much touch the gate let alone get into his house, we will teach you a lesson," Nyoro declared.
His sentiments were echoed by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who alleged that the officers who conducted the raid were under the express instructions of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Murkomen hinted that Uhuru was acting in fear of his political project, Azimio candidate Raila Odinga, was was flopping and was trying to use the DCI to interfere with the August polls.
"If you have seen your project is not working, do not attempt to provoke Kenyans and their emotions by raiding offices, fighting IEBC and interfering with the electoral process," he stated.
Nyoro stated that the Hustler Nation would not fall into a trap by the state to cause mayhem in a bid to profile them as a rowdy lot.
Speaking during the raid Nairobi Regional Police Commander James Mugera revealed that the police were acting on a tip-off that election-related servers were being hosted at the office.
However, the owners of the said servers, a private firm, disputed the claims and explained that they hosted mobile banking data from 18 Saccos.
"This is information that will be verified by investigators. It’s not a criminal offence to move servers but we act on any tip-off we receive. We came to establish what it is that they do. If we’re satisfied, fine, but for now it’s a matter under investigation," Mugera stated.
