Abdullahi Mohamed, a man at the centre of a saga involving three Venezuelans, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations - DCI has spoken out.

Speaking to NTV on Monday, July 25, the Seamless Technologies CEO hit out at the DCI boss George Kinoti accusing him of reporting half-truths on his involvement in the matter.

Mohamed claimed that once the three were arrested, he availed himself to the DCI and presented documents explaining the link between his company, the IEBC and Smartmatic.

"When the saga broke out, I recorded statements with the DCI and gave all corresponding documents that pointed to the working relations between Smartmatic, IEBC, the Venezuelan nationals and Seamless technologies.

"I am surprised that they chose to share partial information with the public that has since turned me into a person of interest," he stated.

Mohamed explained that Smartmatic had sub-contracted him to carry out work for the electoral body, adding that the revelation by Kinoti had put his life in danger.

In his statement following the arrest of the three Venezuelans at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kinoti claimed the three foreigners were in the country on the invite of the Seamless CEO and not IEBC.

"It is clear that the three were in Kenya solely for business with Abdullahi Mohamed, applying for his personnel who he had contracted to come to his office for work-related activities," DCI wrote.

However, IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati insisted that the three were the commission's staff. He also explained the connection between Smartmatic and Seamless Tech.

""One of the conditions in the tender was to attach documentary proff of ICT technical staff with a local registered office in Kenya, Smartmatic coplied with this by providing a local partner," Chebukati stated.

Kenyans.co.ke established that Mohamed is not new with dealing with elections as his professional profile states that he offered consultancy with the European Union election observation mission during the 2017 election.

The Seamless Chief also has a background in ICT having graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the  Periyah University, India, in 2009.
