Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that there is a plot being orchestrated to harm him, his family and his allies.

On Friday, July 29 while speaking in Nandi County, Ruto accused the President of threatening him despite riding on his support in the 2013 and 2017 General Elections.

Ruto asked Uhuru not to drag his kids into their wrangles and cautioned that no amount of intimidation would deter him from his course.

"Stop talking about me and talk about your candidate. Be gentleman. Have some gratitude. We are the ones who helped you. When you needed people, we stood by you till the last minute. Do not harm my children," Ruto stated amidst cheers from the crowd.

"I want to ask the President not to be the source of threats in Kenya. Stop threatening us. Your work is to ensure that all Kenyans are safe. Stop telling us that we will know that you are President. We are not people who can be threatened. We are the ones who elected you," he added.

At the same time, Ruto clarified that he would ensure the President retires peacefully if he wins the August 9 polls.

The former Eldoret North Member of Parliament further, nonetheless, urged the electorates to maintain peace and coexistence during the election period.

While inspecting a series of development projects in Nakuru county, Uhuru had faulted Ruto for promising to return port operations to Mombasa.

Uhuru termed Ruto’s promise populist and deceitful.

"There is nothing bad like politics of deceit, disrespect, intimidation and insults which don’t put food on the table. I have seen a leader whom I don’t want to mention say we have taken the port from Mombasa to Naivasha," Uhuru stated.

"I can't move the ocean to Naivasha. Only God can do that. Not even a president who has whatever power can. We brought this railway here to attract investors who would not have come," he added.

The President had overseen the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ksh90 billion Turkish Special Economic Zone (SEZ) next to the Naivasha Inland Container Depot (NICD).
