Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, stated that his party was ready to work with whoever is elected president.

The leader of The Service Party (TSP) made the revelations on Thursday, August 11, after he was declared the winner in the Laikipia East parliamentary seat.

Kiunjuri noted that he was ready to work with either Deputy President William Ruto or former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He explained that maintaining peace is the most important thing countrywide and elected leaders should ensure that they work in tandem in service of Kenyan voters.

"Let us work together and wait for the presidential results. Whoever wins, we will support them. We need peace as a country because it is the most important thing. It is not about who is elected, it is about the people of Kenya," he remarked.

He also challenged all leaders elected in Laikipia County to unite and elevate the lives of all residents.

"For those elected in Laikipia County, we need to forget our differences. It was just a competition. I urge you, let us build as a team because we have a county that is looking at us. I will work with all elected leaders," Kiunjuri added.

During the campaign period, Kiunjuri publicly supported the candidature of the Deputy President.

In June 2022, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) confirmed in a notice that TSP was part of the parties that constituted the Kenya Kwanza alliance headed by Ruto.

Other members were Farmers Party (FP), Tujibebe Wakenya Party led by William Kabogo Gitau, Chama Cha Kazi headed by Moses Kuria, Communist Party of Kenya (CPK), Devolution Party of Kenya (DPK) and Economic Freedom Party (EFP).

The alliance was founded by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) headed by Ruto, Amani National Congress (ANC) led by Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya headed by Moses Wetangula.

During his speech, Kiunjuri noted that his party bagged a Woman Representative slot and several MCA seats across the country.

"This is a journey that has started today. We are already in Parliament and in County Assemblies. I have been elected as a Member of Parliament. We have a Woman Rep elected somewhere and we also have MCAs.

"Parties are build, some never last to see another election and I believe that parties are built over time. You cannot build a party in a day. It is a political cycle and you can only test a part through three or four electoral cycles. Therefore, we have been tried and we need to be tested," he celebrated.
