Roots Party presidential running mate, Justina Wamae, has revealed that she would serve diligently as a minister in the Kenya Kwanza government, should the Supreme Court uphold the outcome of the presidential election.

Speaking to Muoroto FM on Tuesday, August 23, Wamae noted that president-elect William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza manifesto resonated with the common mwananchi and hence provided an opportunity to uplift every Kenyan.

She added that the position - should it be offered to her - would align with her calling, which is to serve Kenyans' interests while in government.

"If you look at the ages of all presidential candidates, Ruto resonates with the younger generation. In terms of manifestos, ours (Roots Party's) was similar to theirs. In the case of empowering the agricultural sector, Kenya Kwanza's manifesto was about the economic empowerment of the mwananchi. So, Kenyans appreciate a competent and brilliant mind hence I would serve diligently," she stated.

"My calling is to serve the interests of Kenyans. You cannot implement these ideas when at lower positions hence you need to be in higher positions. In 2018, I applied for the Principal Secretary position but didn't get it. Hence, if the position comes up, I would certainly take it."

Responding to rumours that she would leave Roots Party due to the recent differences with her boss, George Wajackoyah, she dispelled the claims.

"There's no need for an argument because you have differences of opinions. For now, since you are the head of the party and the one to choose, then it's his mandate. For instance in my opinion, Jubilee's Polycarp Igathe's resignation as Nairobi deputy governor came back to haunt him as many argued that he ought to have led Nairobi county at the time. So, if I'm kicked out, it's okay but as it stands, I'm staying," she noted.

The presidential running mate delved further into the party woes, noting that some party agents had decried that they were yet to be paid. She added that her financial resources were from family and well-wishers and affirmed not to have received a coin from Wajackoyah.

"I can't speak much about his net worth as he has in the past admitted to possessing a lot of wealth. That did not sit well with a lot of people, for instance, our party agents who decried that they had not been paid. So, I saw images of a brand new car that he bought which elicited debate among Kenyans online."

"If it was the case and our people were paid, then it's okay. In my case, our campaigns were funded by well-wishers, and I've never received cash from him.

"If he would have given me a house, I would have donated it since I saw no need of moving in. My husband supported me throughout the electioneering period financially," she highlighted.

Wamae was summoned by Wajackoyah on Friday, August 29, for a disciplinary hearing over her statements to the media.
