President-elect William Ruto’s mother, Sarah Samoei, wants her son to hit the ground running and deliver on the promises he made during campaigns.

Speaking to the media in Turbo on Monday, September 5, Mama Sarah celebrated the Supreme Court's verdict which upheld the President-elect's victory, but further urged Ruto to be free and fair to all Kenyans.

She also asked him to continue seeking for God's divine intervention and guidance as he succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta. Mama Sarah underlined that his son's spirituality emanated from the strict Christian upbringing and devotion to prayers.

“I thank the people of Kenya for voting for Ruto because our prayers alone would not have helped him win the elections. Do not punish those who did not vote for you.

"I am asking my son to reciprocate the support given to him by Kenyans and work tirelessly for them," Mama Sarah prayed.

She as well disclosed that the election period was quite stressful, but she believed that all would work in the favour of his son.

"My only role during the election period was praying. I had no other business and I am happy that the prayers were answered. On Sunday night, I slept as normal because I had prayed for him and I believed his win would be upheld," Mama Sarah stated.

Ruto will be sworn-in on Tuesday, September 13 to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the fifth president of Kenya.

Speaking at his Karen home, on Monday, September 5, the President-elect pledged to reach out to Uhuru and Raila as he seeks to unite the country.

"It is not an easy decision, and a national campaign is not a walk in the park at the best of times. I want all of you to know that your effort is acknowledged and deeply appreciated.

"Waihiga Mwaure and Ruth Mucheru, George Wajackoyah and Justina Wamae, Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Martha Karua, may the spirit of love for country and selfless service lie long in your hearts, and may Almighty God always remember you," Ruto stated.
