Former Majority leader in the National Assembly Adan Duale has alleged that the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta conned the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 7, Duale claimed that Uhuru duped the ODM party leader, that he would deliver Mt. Kenya region votes by deploying state machinery.

“It is baffling that Uhuru conned Raila that he will deliver Mt. Kenya votes and would deploy the deep state to overturn the will of the people,” Duale stated.

The Garissa Town MP's statement came after President Uhuru Kenyatta chaired a Parliamentary Group meeting of the Azimio La Umoja Coalition in Maasai Lodge.

In his address, Uhuru pledged to hand over power a happy man, but reiterated that Odinga would remain his leader.

However, Duale criticized President Uhuru for referring to Raila as his leader saying the outgoing head of state is soothing his ego to  perpetuate hopeless optimism.

“It’s perplexing that he now refers to the 5th time loser as his leader to soothe his ego and perpetuate hopeless optimism,”

In a veiled attack to the outgoing head of state, Duale said that it is evident that President Uhuru  is reeling from a devastating defeat and living in denial by saying that Odinga is his leader.

“Evidently, the outgoing President is reeling from devastating defeat and living in denial. By asserting that Tinga is his leader, he clearly has refused to move on and is looking at the future with a rearview mirror,”

Further, the lawmaker claimed that Uhuru paid Raila in 2018 after conducting a mock swearing in ceremony at Uhuru Park and consequently boycotted the repeat elections.

He noted that Odinga had committed  a treasonous act and there was no reason for him joining the government.

“In 2018, he paid Tinga who committed treasonous act of swearing himself in to joining his government and elbowed out a constitutionally elected Deputy President. In 2022 , he consorted and went to bed with the opposition leader and was resoundingly rejected by Kenyans into opposition,”

Additionally, Duale stated that  Kenyans made a choice that was affirmed, validated and legitimized by Independent Institutions. He also warned Odinga, that there will be no mock swearing in Ruto’s administration.

“We wish to remind him that there shall be no mock swearing in the new administration,”

He further accused President Uhuru who is the Azimio Council Chairman for trying to give hope to Raila with a semblance to that of the people's President

“Kenya has been uprooted and totally obliterated from the politics of deceit. The outgoing president who is the face of the facade that’s Azimio is trying to give a vain hope to the vanquished opposition boss a semblance of leadership akin to the people's President.”
