Police officers based in Mwiki Police Station were treated to a surprise after a resident from Baba Dogo estate offered them household shopping.

In a video by the police on Saturday, September 10, Alexander Nyaga was filmed gifting groceries to the officers on duty.

Among the items, given to the officers were tomatoes, onions and fruits.

The elated officers were touched by his compassion especially after he travelled over 10 kilometres to surprise them.

Nyaga noted that police work was tedious and it was important for citizens to recognise hardworking cops.

"My name is Alexander Nyaga and I come from Baba Dogo. I decided to come and surprise the officers because they do a very good job (in maintaining law and order in the region)," he stated.

The actions by Nyaga saw him earn accolades from a section of Kenyans who commended him for his kind gesture.

Some opined that such actions would motivate the cops and urged other Kenyans to emulate the Baba Dogo resident.

"We thank Alex from Baba Dogo who surprised the cops at Mwiki Police Station. He recognised the hard work of police officers. Community policing taking its shape," an online user lauded.

"This is such a nice gesture. Officers also need to be shown love and support for the amazing work that they do," one Brian Otieno added.

In recent years, a section of Kenyans has won the hearts of the public for the kind gesture demonstrated towards uniformed officers.

In 2021, a woman based in Thika went viral after she was recorded serving food to cops manning roadblocks during the pandemic.
